Sotheby's Auctions has just released a pretty crazy line-up of historically significant motorsport vehicles. However, the one that takes the cake is the 1960 Corvette that part of the Briggs Cunningham team.
The car drove at Le Mans as Briggs Cunningham tried to win the most difficult race in the world in an American made car. This was the car that was actually used at Le Mans which is why the price will probably be so high.
The car has Chassis number 3535 and has the information to prove it. However, it should be noted that the car is in poor condition. The car was under private ownership for a while until it was believed to be lost.
However, the car was found in 2012. It was then that specialists came to inspect the car and to confirm its historical significance. It is unclear how much the car will sell for but it is assumed that it will be quite a bit of money.
There are some other cars that are worth noting that will be joining the 1960 Corvette in the auction. The first is 1965 Shelby 289 Cobra that was used by Carroll Shelby as a demonstrator car. The car is in good condition and has a tuned V8 engine that is in running condition.
Also, there are a few cars from John Campion's collection. The most notable is the 1981 March 811 Formula 1 car that was actually raced. It is a formula 1 car that shows off the older style of formula 1 cars. It is in great condition and will most likely sell for quite a bit of money.
