In 1971, the rock band Chicago performed a string of concerts at Carnegie Hall. Between April 5th and 10th they played 8 shows and sold out every single one. That made them the first rock band to sell out Carnegie Hall for a week straight.
The eight shows were recorded and the best parts were put into a quadruple vinyl album that was comprised of songs from the bands first three albums and was 2 hours and 45 minutes long! The album reached the #3 spot on the Billboard charts. It was also the band's best selling live album and went platinum.
Now, 50 years later, the live album is getting a massive deluxe 50th anniversary version that includes a lot of material. The new box set will contain a whopping total of 16 CDs and will have remastered versions of the recordings of all eight of the shows that they played at Carnegie Hall. The recordings have all been remastered and are high quality versions perfect for stereo listening.
The set will also contain some awesome Chicago memorabilia that you can only get in the new box set. It will have replica posters from the original Chicago show as well as excerpts from the original concert programs. To add to this, there will also be a 28 page picture book included with original pictures of the band and the shows.
The box set will be released on July 16th of 2021 and will available to purchase on Chicago's website as well as in stores. They have said that the box set will be a limited edition version as it is a 50th anniversary and will only be offered this year.
