Unfortunately, we have received news that legendary producer and musician Malcolm Cecil has recently passed away. Malcolm Cecil may not be a musician that was super popular, but he made a huge contribution to 70s and 80s music.
He was the producer for some of the biggest names in music. He produced albums for Quincy Jones, Randy Newman, Joan Baez, and most notably Stevie Wonder! There are a lot of songs and albums that Malcolm had an effect on that you may listen to daily! He create some of the most influential sounds and songs and helped many artists reach a great level of success in their careers.
However, this Malcolm Cecil also contributed a lot to the world of synthesizers and electronic music. He was one of the first producers to start using the analog synthesizer, which he took quite a liking to. Over time, he constructed his own synthesizer called the "The Original New Timbral Orchestra" or the TONTO.
This cockpit looking analog synthesizer is one hell of a machine and it was used by Malcolm in many recordings to create a lot of great music. He also worked with synthesizer company Moog on a number of occasions to create new and interesting instruments and synthesizer technology.
Music lost a great musician with the sad passing of Malcolm Cecil. He will be missed and his music will be remembered. All of his music can be found on YouTube or streaming services if you are interested in listening, and you can go to Wikipedia to see the albums that he helped create!
